The marriage will take place in Trinity United Church, Shelburne, on Saturday, Sept. 15th, at 3 o'clock p.m. Marriage: September 15, 1951, Trinity United Church, Shelburne, Dufferin, ON Elgie- McCutcheon Trinity United Church Shelburne, was the scene of a very lovely wedding on Saturday, Sept. 15, when Barbara Jean McCutcheon, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham McCutcheon, became the bride of Wallace L. Elgie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Elgie. The church was decorated with baskets of pink and white gladioli. Dr. H.O. Hutcheson officiated. Mr. Lindsay Jelly presided at the organ and Mr. Keith Sproule sang "The Lord's Prayer," Still As the Night" and Because," Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked charming in a ballerina gown of drift white French lace. The gown was fashioned with s small lace bolero with full bishop sleeves. The strapless bodice was cuffed around the top and very full skirt was cut on princess lines, falling in soft folds to the floor. Her heirloom veil was held with a colonial bouquet with streamers of Better Time Roses and stephanotis. Her maid of honor, Mrs. Mary Jelly, of Orangeville, wore chartreuse taffeta. Miss Irene Rayfield and Miss Donna Legge of Montreal) cousin of the bride) were bridesmaids. Miss Rayfield wore mauve and Miss Legge, Yukon gold taffeta, fashioned with bolero jackets, The bodices of the gowns where shirred across the bustle and fell from a empire waistline to a full gathered skirt. All carried colonial bouquets of masterpiece orchid chrysanthemums. Mr. Allan Elgie was groomsman for his brother and the ushers were Messrs. Donald and William McCutcheon (brothers of the bride) and George Little. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore wine tricatena crepe with wine velvet trimming ad corsage of Lester Hubbard roses. The groom's mother, who assisted, was in Royal Cloak crepe and wore a corsage of yellow roses. For traveling, the bride chose a dark green with black stripe wool suit with matching velvet hat and black accessories. The happy couple left for Algonquin Park, Ottawa and Montreal. On their return they will live on the groom's farm. Near Redickville. Guests attended the wedding from Montreal, Que., Toronto, Hamilton, Port-Credit, Orangeville and Alliston. Obituary of Wallace Little ELGIE Wallace Little Elgie December 4th, 1925 - July 12th, 2021 Passed away peacefully at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara (McCutcheon) (deceased 2016). Father of Gwen (deceased 1993) and Jim Henry, Nancy and Gordon Conner, Larry Elgie and Julie Stewart (deceased 2020) and John and Barb Elgie. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jeff, Kimberly, Brianna, Teresa, Jesse, Diva, Raynor, Taylor, Peter, Lucas, and by his 11 great grandchildren. Wallace took great pride in this family. Also predeceased by his parents Herbert and Violet Elgie, his brother Allen and Joan Elgie and his brother-in-law’s Don and Bill McCutcheon. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Myrtle McCutcheon, nephews, Jamie and Bill McCutcheon and nieces, Judy Clayton, and Susan Dolson. Wallace was a healthy, strong, independent man throughout his life. His great passions included his family, potato farming, curling and coffee chats with his many friends. He had travelled abroad to many places, enjoyed going on “crop tours” with his friends and was often found socializing with his condo, curling and legion communities. He lived a long, active, and full life. He will be remembered as a hardworking, loving husband, great father, fun loving grandfather, and great friend.
