BOYD ENGAGED IN MANY BUSINESS ACTIVITIES IN NEWMARKET Prominent Newmarket business man for the past 42 years, Edward Alexander Boyd died at the home of Mrs. Chas. Morton, 41 Lorne Ave. on Saturday. Mr Boyd had been ill for two weeks following a heart attack. Edward Alexander Boyd was born at Port Elgin 65 years ago, a son of Cahterine Wynn and Laughlin Boyd. He married Alfretta Wooten, who died a few years later. In 1920 he married Ethel Morton, who survives. Mr. Boyd was in the laundry business for several years. He spent 24 year in the livery business. Mr Boyd was a good judge of horses and won many prizes showing his horses in different parts of Ontario. Mr Boyd had one of the first automobiles in Newmarket. Mr Boyd travelled for a number of years, visiting all parts of Canada. He spent eight months in the prairie provinces. In 1935 he entered the real estate and insurance business. Mr. Boyd was in business in Newmarket for 42 years, longer than any present Newmarket merchant. Active in many organization in Newmarket, Mr. Boyd was at one time president of the Newmarket Citizens' committee, secretary of the Newmarket Sportsmen's Association, a past master of the Tuscan lodge, A.F. & A.M., a member of the Woodsmen of the World and the I.O.O.F. Mr Boyd was a member of Trinity United church. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Charles Edward, two brothers, James Albert of Newmarket and Lorne Livingstone of Centenlla, Ill. Another brother, William Rae Boyd, predeceased him. Rev. Henry COtton, assisted by Rev. J.A. Koffund, conducted the funeral service at the chapel of Roadhouse and Rose on Wednesday afternoon. Interment was in Newmarket cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were J.O. Little, F.O.R. Simpson, A.M. Mills, W.J. Geer, Ed. Williamson, Thos, Blizzard, G.L. Manning and Ernest Sprague. Active pallbearers were D.H. Fines, Norman Pearson, Elliott Haines, J.E. Nesbitt, E.H. Adams and J.C. Best Children: 1.
