Know all Men by these Presents that we Capt John Edington, Yeoman of Stanstead, Simon Glidden, Farmer of Hatley, Wm Stracham Farmer of Stanstead are held and firmly bound, jointly and severally, unto our soverign Lord, William the Fourth, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, in the sum of Two Hundred Pounds of Current Money of this Province, to be paid to his said majesty, his Heirs and Successors; for the which payment will and truly be made, we do bind ourselves, and each of us by himself, our, and each of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, dated the 18th day of May and sixth Year of his Majesty's reign, and in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and thirty six.

The condition of this Obligation is such, That Whereas the above bounden John Edington has obtained a License of Marriage for himself and Miss Caroline Glidden.

Now if it shall not appear hereafter that they or either of them the said John Edington & Caroline Glidden have and lawful Let of Impediment, Pre-contract, Affinity or Consanguinity, to hinder their being joined in the Holy Bands of Matrimony, and afterwards their living together as Man and Wife, and then this Obligation to be void and of none Effect, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
