He was in his 70th year. Born in Honeywood area, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Service of Melancthon. He was a mechanic at Beeton and Orangeville until 1940 when he moved to Mount Forest district where he farmed and worked as a garage mechanic. Surviving are his wife, the former Wilma Klages, to whom he was married in 1929; two brothers, William of Fergus and Harry of Shelburne. The funeral was held from Hendrick Funeral Home on Saturday, June 26, and was conducted by Mr. Fergus McElrea and Mr. Peter Zimmerman. Interment was in Chesley cemetery. The pallbearers were Ivan Kidd, Nelson Stokes, and nephews Lorne Service, Eldon Service, Douglas Klages and Wayne Klages. Flower bearers were Joyce Service, Sylvia Klages, Edward Service, James Service and Dean Klages. Friends and relatives attended from Collingwood, Barrie, Beeton, Orangeville, Fergus, Guelph, Kitchener, Markham, Chesley, Shelburne, Hanover, Tiverton and the Manitoulin Island. |
