Frederick William Buchanan beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann Little and dear father of Hazel; Violet, (Mrs. H. Elgie); Bertha (Mrs. F. Turner); and George. Age 89 years. Funeral service was held from the Gamble Funeral Home on September 1st. Interment Shelburne Cemetery Shelburne Free Press & Economist - September 28, 1960 - FREDERICK BUCHANAN: Frederick Buchanan, one of Mono Township's oldest residents, passed away on August 29, 1960, in Dufferin Area Hospital, almost on the eve of his 89th birthday. Mr. Buchanan was born on August 31, 1871, the son of Thomas Buchanan and Mary Warnock. On June 1st, 1897, he married Elizabeth Anne Little and they spent their entire lives farming in the Elba district. Two years ago he was stricken with what proved to be a fatal illness. He is survived by his widow, three daughters and one son: Hazel, Violet (Mrs. Herbert Elgie), Bertha (Mrs. Frank Turner) and George; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. The funeral was conducted from the Gamble Funeral Home in Shelburne by Rev. R. P. Bates, minister of Primrose United Church, of which the deceased was a member. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Wallace and Alan Elgie, Douglas Buchanan, John Turner, Donald Rennick and Stewart Horner. The beautiful floral tributes were also carried by grandchildren: Eveline, Bessie and Florence Turner, Patricia Rennick, Norma Horner, Alan and Lynne Buchanan, Barbara and Joan Elgie.
