The Rev. W. H. Hartley officiated in the presence of a few relatives of the contracting parties. The bride was charmingly gowned in pale grey satin and wore a string of pearls, the gift of the groom. The young couple are members of St. James' church, Primrose, the bride being one of the members of the choir. They will reside on the groom's farm on Hurontario Street. He was born near the village of Hockley in Adjala township and moved with his parents to the Granger area in Mono township when four years old. In 1924 he married Violet Buchanan and they farmed in that district until ill health forced him to retire eight years ago. He moved to Shelburne in 1966. Mr. Elgie was a member of St. James' Anglican Church, Primrose. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Wallace and Alan of Redickville, and six grandchildren, Gwen, Nancy, Judy, Larry, Susan and John Elgie. Also surviving are three sisters: Annie (Mrs. George Lindsay), Ettie (Mrs. Wilmer Lundy), Mabel (Mrs. Jackson Woods), all of Orangeville; and one brother, Leonard of Barrie. Service was held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Tuesday afternoon, October 15th, with Rev. J. W. Hofland officiating. The pallbearers were four old-neighbors, Alvin Dermott, Harry Dermott, Stanley Summerfield and Harold Rutledge; a nephew, Dennis Cooper, and a brother-in-law, George Buchanan. Elgie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Elgie. The church was decorated with baskets of pink and white gladioli. Dr. H.O. Hutcheson officiated. Mr. Lindsay Jelly presided at the organ and Mr. Keith Sproule sang "The Lord's Prayer," Still As the Night" and Because," Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked charming in a ballerina gown of drift white French lace. The gown was fashioned with s small lace bolero with full bishop sleeves. The strapless bodice was cuffed around the top and very full skirt was cut on princess lines, falling in soft folds to the floor. Her heirloom veil was held with a colonial bouquet with streamers of Better Time Roses and stephanotis. Her maid of honor, Mrs. Mary Jelly, of Orangeville, wore chartreuse taffeta. Miss Rayfield wore mauve and Miss Legge, Yukon gold taffeta, fashioned with bolero jackets, The bodices of the gowns where shirred across the bustle and fell from a empire waistline to a full gathered skirt. All carried colonial bouquets of masterpiece orchid chrysanthemums. Mr. Allan Elgie was groomsman for his brother and the ushers were Messrs. Donald and William McCutcheon (brothers of the bride) and George Little. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore wine tricatena crepe with wine velvet trimming ad corsage of Lester Hubbard roses. The groom's mother, who assisted, was in Royal Cloak crepe and wore a corsage of yellow roses. For traveling, the bride chose a dark green with black stripe wool suit with matching velvet hat and black accessories. The happy couple left for Algonquin Park, Ottawa and Montreal. On their return they will live on the groom's farm. Near Redickville. Guests attended the wedding from Montreal, Que., Toronto, Hamilton, Port-Credit, Orangeville and Alliston. Obituary of Wallace Little ELGIE Wallace Little Elgie December 4th, 1925 - July 12th, 2021 Passed away peacefully at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara (McCutcheon) (deceased 2016). Father of Gwen (deceased 1993) and Jim Henry, Nancy and Gordon Conner, Larry Elgie and Julie Stewart (deceased 2020) and John and Barb Elgie. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jeff, Kimberly, Brianna, Teresa, Jesse, Diva, Raynor, Taylor, Peter, Lucas, and by his 11 great grandchildren. Wallace took great pride in this family. Also predeceased by his parents Herbert and Violet Elgie, his brother Allen and Joan Elgie and his brother-in-law’s Don and Bill McCutcheon. Wallace was a healthy, strong, independent man throughout his life. His great passions included his family, potato farming, curling and coffee chats with his many friends. He had travelled abroad to many places, enjoyed going on “crop tours” with his friends and was often found socializing with his condo, curling and legion communities. He lived a long, active, and full life. He will be remembered as a hardworking, loving husband, great father, fun loving grandfather, and great friend. Rev. Russell Pike officiated. The bride looked lovely in a gown of white satin with front inset of white lace trimmed with rhinestones. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a half cap on nylon and forget-me-nots. She carried a bouquet of red roses and maidenhair fern. Miss Leone Teeter, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a gown of blue taffeta with net overskirt and matching head-dress. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and fern. Mr. Wallace Elgie, brother of the groom, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's mother received in navy sheer with corsage of pink roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother in floral nylon with red roses. Lunch was served by three girl friends of the bride, Misses Mildred Cooke, Jean Proctor and Helen Legate. Following the reception the young couple left on a trip to Northern Ontario.
