LINDSAY- On Saturday, October 6, 1956, Herbert Allen Lindsay, husband of the late Jemima Little, and dear father of Mrs. Stanley Summerfield (Bessie), Ruth and Douglas, passed away at the Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville, in his 69th year.

Rested at his late residence, Lot 27, Mono Township, Highway 10. Funeral service at the Phoenix-Steenson Funeral Home, Shelburne, Tuesday, October 9. Interment Shelburne Cemetery. With L.O.L. honors.

Primrose community lost one of its lifetime residents in the person of Herbert Allen Lindsay, who died Saturday, October 6th, 1956, in his 69th year. He was the youngest son of the late George Lindsay and Ellen Buchanan and was born on lot 30, Second Line East, Mono, and had resided on lot 28, Highway 10, for the past 35 years.

His wife, the former Jemima Little, predeceased him 2 years ago. He leaves a family of two daughters and one son: Mrs. Stanley Summerfield (Bessie), Ruth and Douglas; also one sister, Mrs. Nellie Holt, of Langley Prairie, B.C., and a brother, Joseph, of Taber, Alberta. A sister, Mrs. Joe Newton, of Violet Hill, and two brothers, Robert, of Primrose, and Wilfred,of Vancouver, B.C., predeceased him.

Mr. Lindsay was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Primrose; L.O.L. No. 1277 and was also a member of Centre Dufferin District High School Board. He had shown a keen interest in the building of the new school in Shelburne.

He had been in failing health for the past two years, and after over a month in the hospital he passed to his eternal rest.

The remains rested at his late residence until Tuesday morning, after which service was held at the Phoenix & Steenson Funeral Home, Shelburne, at 2.30 p.m. His rector, Rev. Mackenzie Dobson, officiated, assisted by the officers of Primrose L.O.L. Interment was made in Shelburne Cemetery with Orange honors.

The pallbearers were Messrs. Perry, Norman, Emerson and Ronald Lindsay, Raymond and Lindsay Newton. The beautiful floral tributes were carried by brother Orangemen.

A respected life-long resident of Mono Township, Jemima Little, wife of Herb. Lindsay, passed away in Orangeville Hospital, on Sunday, January 3rd, 1954, in her 62nd year.
Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Little and was born on Lot 26, Prince of Wales Road (No. 10 Highway), Mono. Since her marriage she had lived on Lot 27, No. 10 Highway.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters and one son - Mrs. Stanley Summerfield (Bessie), Ruth and Doug.
Mrs. Lindsay was a member of St. James' Anglican Church, Primrose, and was a member of Primrose L.O.B.A.
The funeral took place from the Phoenix and Steenson Funeral Home to Shelburne Cemetery, Wednesday afternoon, January 6th. The service was conducted by Rev. J. M. Dobson.
The pallbearers were George Little, Leslie Little, Walter Little, William Little, George Buchanan, Earl Shaw.
The many beautiful floral tributes were carried by Lindsay, Eddie Eldridge, Ray Newton, Norma Buchanan, Lindsay Newton, Patricia Buchanan, Lorna Horner, Irene Horner, Mary Little, Helen Little, William Noble.

Funeral services were held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on October 26th. Interment Shelburne cemetery.
