Little, of Elba, on Wednesday evening, May 28th, 1902, at 6 o'clock, when Miss Martha, his daughter, was married to Samuel George Shaw, of Mono township. The Rev. Wm. Hinde, rector of St. Paul's, Shelburne, performed the ceremony. Miss Lizzie A. Wilson, of Primrose, acted as bridesmaid and Robt. A. Morrison, of Arthur township, supported the groom. After the nuptial knot was tied the company sat down to a recherche wedding breakfast. SHAW On Sunday, December 4th, 1949, there passed away in St. Thomas Memorial Hospital, an esteemed resident of Mono, in the person of Samuel George Shaw, eldest son of the late George and Mary Shaw. He was born in June, 1872, and in 1902 he married Martha Little, daughter of the late George and Mary Little. They resided on Lot 31, concession 2 east, Mono, for a number of years. He farmed also at Aylmer, and later moved to St. Thomas, where he retired from active work. He was stricken with hardening of the arteries and was confined to St. Thomas Memorial Hospital for two years at which place he found rest in death. He is survived by his wife, two daughters (Eveline) (Mrs. James Lawrence), Barrie; Mrs. Harry Ferguson (Edna), Thornton; and three sons Carl, Harry and Trueman, all of St. Thomas; also nine grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Benj. Summerfield; Mono, Mrs. Jos. Little, Shelburne, and Brinkman Shaw, of Fraxa. The funeral was held from the Gamble Funeral Home on Wednesday December 7th to Shelburne. Rev. Ralph Sadleir conducted the service, and gave a very inspiring address on life and death-death, the gateway to eternal life." In spite of winter weather and bad roads, a large number of neighbors, friends and relatives attended the funeral, which, along with many beautiful flowers, testified to the warm friendship held for the deceased. Friends were present from Hamilton, Fergus, Toronto, Barrie, St. Thomas and Thornton. The pallbearers were six nephews, Stanley Summerfield, George Little, Albert Deverell, Orland and Arnold Shaw and Walter Little. Children: 1.
