Deceased was born in Mono Township begin a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Little Pioneer residents. He is survived by his wife (formerly) Mabel Rayfield and seven children: Helen, Ruby, Marjorie, Arthur, George, Leslie and Jean. Deceased was a member of St. James Anglican Church Primrose, of which he was a warden and also Sunday School Superindent for several years. The funeral took place to Shelburne Cemetery on Monday afternoon. Private service at the home, followed by a public service at St. James Church Primrose. The service was conducted by Rev. J.P. His passing makes the first break in a family of nine. They are: - Joseph G., of Shelburne; - Mrs. Fred Buchanan, - Mrs. Herbert Lindsay and - Robert Little, of Mono; - Wm. J. Little and - Mrs. R. J. Small, of Toronto; - Mrs. S. G. Shaw, of Aylmer, Ont., and - Mrs. R. J. Bailey, of Eyebrow, Sask. In 1920 Mr. Little married Miss Mabel Louise Rayfield, who survives with seven children, Jean, George, Leslie, Arthur, Marjorie, Ruby and Helen Robena, all at home. One son, Eric Charles, predeceased his father four years ago. Mr. Little was in his 49th year. The loss of such a kind and much needed husband in the prime of life is a sad one. Always keenly interested in the welfare of the community and especially the young, he was generous with his time, energy and worldly possessions. He was a lifelong member of St. James Anglican church, Primrose, and was Superintendent of its Sunday School for over twenty years. He was President of the Mono Religious Education Council for a number of years and was one of the first and most enthusiastic workers in promoting vacation schools in Mono township. Mr. Little's long and trying illness was borne with such splendid fortitude and Christian faith that his example will be long remembered by all who knew him. A befitting prayer for his life and passing finds expression in the following lines: The Lord preserve thy going out, The Lord preserve thy coming in. His angels guard thee round about To keep thy soul from every sin. And when thy going out is done. And when thy coming in is o'er. The many friends who called at his late home all day Sunday and the large attendance at the funeral, which took place on Monday afternoon, bore tribute to the high esteem in which Mr. Little was held. Service was held in St. James Church, Primrose, by Rev. G. P. Parson, the rector, assisted by Rev. H. 0. Hutcheson, a friend and co-worker. The remains were laid to rest in Shelburne cemetery. The pallbearers were six nephews: George Buchanan, Harry Shaw, Frank Brown, Frank Turner, Stanley Summerfield and Harold Watson. Mabel Halbert described as a great lady A great lady is how friends have described Mabel -the Old Cog who passed away October 15, 1986 in Dufferin Area Hospital in Orangeville. She was born in 1897, near Bowling Green in Amaranth Township the seventh child of George Rayfield and Mary Jane Joll. When she was 5 her family moved to Camilla where all members were active in Church, and community affairs. Mabel attended Toronto Normal School Teacher's Certificate. She taught in the one-room schools at S.S. Caledon and at Whittington. In 1920 she married Thomas Little and moved up the highway to his farm on Elba Hill. There most of her time was taken up caring for her 8 children and encouraging Tom is his church and outside interests. After his untimely death in 1938, the boys carried on with the farm work and the small children. In 1950 she married Leonard Halbert father of Keith, & Isabel and went to live in a house on Andrew Street in Shelburne. After Leonard died she moved to the Simon Street Apartments on Simon Street in Shelburne. Rev. Bruce Besley & Rev. David Hamilton officiated at the funeral. Pallbearers were her three sons, George, Leslie and Arthur and Three nephews, George Rayfield, Frances & Allan Brown. C. Hill of Whitfield. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion and the rector, Rev. J.H. Pogson, officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her mother, was dressed in a floor length white taffeta dress with fingertip veil held with a becoming halo. She was escorted up the aisle by her cousin, Mr. Cecil Bailey, of Toronto. The bridesmaid, Miss Kathleen Morrison of Port Credit, wore a floor length dress of pale pink crepe with should veil held in place with pink rosebuds. The bride carried a white prayer book and the bridesmaid a bouquet of sweet peas. Mr. Wm. J. Clark was groomsman. The wedding music was played by Miss Viola Dermott and during the singing of the register Miss Iris Turner sang, "If I had a Thousand Lives to Live." The ushers were the bride's twin brothers, George and Leslie Little. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother at which about eighty friends and relatives extended their good wishes to the bride and groom. Later the happy couple left for a motor trip to Toronto and other Ontario points, the bride travelling in a tailored suit of teal blue with rose felt hat. The groom was supported by Mr. Arthur Little and Mr. Leslie Little. Leading the bridal procession was Tommy Little, nephew of the bride, carrying the two matching rings on a red satin cushion. Nancy Elver, niece of the bride, was flower girl. All the bride's attendants wore street length white dresses and carried bouquets of red roses. Mr. Walter Little welcomed the guests as they arrived. After the service a social time was spent on the church lawn while photos were taken. The bridal couple then led the way to the church parlor where a dainty lunch was served to 75 guests. The wedding service followed Newfoundland customs and traditions. In the absence of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Halbert acted in this capacity and invited the guests to their home to see the bride's gifts, and served light refreshments. The bride and groom left for a short honeymoon trip to Kingston and the Thousand Islands with plans to go by jet plane to visit the groom's parents later in July. They will reside in Rexdale. Eric Charles Little The angel of death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Little, of Primrose and took away their youngest son Eric Charles aged 3 years, 8 months and 11 days. The little lad was in good health on Saturday night and was awaken with what appeared to be a child aliment. When his condition became worse medial aid was summoned and he was taken on Monday morning to Lord Dufferin Hospital, Orangeville but in spite of all that loving care and medical skill could do the little innosed and passed peacefully away on Monday afternoon July 2nd. He had been regular attendant at St. James, S.S. Primrose this summer and by his sweet winsome ways had won the admiration and love of who knew him. Besides his parents and twin sister, Marjorie Lillian, he leaves to mourns his loss an elder sister, Jean, and three brothers- George, Leslie and Arthur. He was a grandson of Mr. G.W.
