FERRIS, James Mervyn - At the Dufferin Area Hospital on Friday June 17th, 1983 in his 66th year. Mervyn Ferris, beloved husband of Doris Little; dear brother of Ross of Whitfield and Helen (Mrs. D. Stewart) of Saskatchewan. Funeral services were held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Monday, June 20, 1983 at 2 p.m. Interment Shelburne Cemetery.

James Mervyn Ferris passed away at Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville on June 17, 1983, after a brief illness.

He was born September 20, 1915, in Mulmur Township to the late John G. Ferris and Ethel M. Pearsall. He attended Whitfield Public School, then farmed on the Ferris homestead, Whitfield till he retired and moved to Shelburne in April 1981.

On July 28, 1951, he was married to Doris Little, of Mono, who survives him, also one brother and sister Ross of Whitfield and Helen, Mrs. Douglas Stewart of Weyburn, Sask. Also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from Gambles Funeral Home, Shelburne on June 20, and conducted by Rev. Joyce McCardell of Horning's Mills.

Pallbearers were all cousins of Mervyn's Fred and George Pearsall, Russell Mcdowell, Harold Rutledge, Howard and Alvin Ferris.

Flower bearers were nieces Marlene and Cathy Brown, Judi Hewit and Wanda Smith and nephew Alan Little.

A quiet wedding took place on Saturday, July 28th, 1951, at the home of Mrs. Albert Little, Primrose, when their daughter, Doris Harriet became the bride of James Mervyn Ferris, son on Mr. and Mrs. John G. Ferris, of Whitfield. Rev. J. M. Dobson, of Shelburne, performed the ceremony. The bride was attired in American blue faille and white lace dress, with white accessories and corsage of red roses. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. James L. Brown, Melancthon, in lilac sheer over taffeta, with white accessories and corsage of Talisman roses. The groomsman was Mr. Ross Ferris, Whitfield, brother of the groom. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the immediate families, after which the young people left on a motor trip. They will reside on the groom's farm, Whitfield.

Among those who attended the Ferris-Little wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Little and Judy, Orillia; Mr. and Mrs. Winslow Little, Bryan and Kenny, of Hamilton, and Mr. Collins Little, of Toronto.

Peacefully at Brampton Civic Hospital on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in her 96th year. The loving and cherished aunt of Cathy Brown, will be fondly remembered by her extended family in Bolton, nieces, nephews and friends.

Doris Harriett Little, loving wife of the late Mervyn Ferris (1983). Predeceased by her sister Muriel (Jim Brown/George Roberts) and her brothers Clifford (Ruth), Lindsay (Eula), Winslowe (Verla), Russell (Margaret), Wm. Collins (Sunny), Maurice and Beverly.

Friends and family will be received at the Jack & Thompson Funeral Home, 318 Main St. E., Shelburne on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 9-11 a.m. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Shelburne Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Primrose United Church, Shelburne Public Library or the CNIB would be appreciated.
