Deceased was the eldest daughter of the late Robert and Jane Aikens of the fifth line, Mono. She was born on April 3rd 1847 and in the year 1865 was married to Joseph Dermott, who predeceased her twenty-seven years ago. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss four daughters and four sons (Margaret) Mrs. Wm. McCague, Beeton; (Anna) Mrs. James Rinn, McIntre; (Sarah) Mrs. Jas. Service Redickville; (Mary) Mrs. George Maharg, Camille; Robert and Wm Camilla; Joseph and Samuel, Orangeville, and three sisters, Mrs. John Haddock and Mrs. James Foster, Mono; Mrs. Jos. Barber, Dunedin, also twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. The funeral took place to Relessey Cemetery, on Wednesday afternoon March 7th, service being conducted by Rev. R.P.D. Hurford, of Shelburne. The pallbearers were six nephews, Messrs John and George Aikens, Robert, Joseph, Samuel and James Haddock. DERMOTT: Mrs. Joseph Dermott, an old and highly respected resident of the north of Mono, passed away at her home on lot 24, Centre Road, on Monday, March 5th, at the ripe age of 80 years, 11 months and 29 days. Her death followed an illness of about three weeks. The late Mrs. Dermott was the eldest daughter at the late Robert and Jane Aikens, of the 5th line of Mono. She was born on April 3rd, 1847, and in December, 1865, was married to Joseph Dermott and moved to lot 24, Centre Road, where she has since lived. Her husband predeceased her by twenty-seven years. She is survived by a family of eight, namely, Mrs. William McCague, (Margaret) of Beeton; Mrs. James Rinn, (Anna) of McIntyre; Mrs. James Service, (Sarah) of Reddickville; Mrs. Geo. Maharg, (Mary) of Camilla; Robert and William, of Camilla; and Joseph and Samuel of Orangeville. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. Haddock and Mrs. Jas. Foster, of Mono, and Mrs. Jos. Barber, of Dunedin, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Deceased was held in genuine esteem in her home community and her passing will be keenly regretted by her circle of friends and neighbors. The funeral was held from her late home to Relessey cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, March 7th. Rev. P. D. Hurford, of Shelburne, conducting the services at the house and grave.
