Nancy Nicole ArnisonBorn 17 Mar 1941 Detroit, Michigan, United States of America, died 19 Jul 2017 Dexter, Michigan, United States of America, 76 years 3/17/1941 - 7/19/2017 Dexter - Nancy Nicole (Arnison) Possley, 76, passed away on July 19th after a hard-fought battle against ovarian cancer. Nancy was born in Detroit on St. Patrick's Day of 1941, the first-born child to Eleanore Marie (Stern) and Leonard Wilson Arnison. Eleanore was descended from German immigrants who had settled in Wisconsin; Leonard immigrated in his youth from England to the US by way of Canada, to find work in the New World. In her teens, Nancy left home to attend Michigan Lutheran Seminary, a high school in Saginaw, Michigan. She later attended Eastern Michigan University, where she received a business degree. In 1970, she married Marc Possley and shortly thereafter they moved to Dexter, Michigan to raise their two daughters. Nancy worked for many years in payroll at University of Michigan and then at Xerox. Later, she was a bookkeeper, for Whedco, Eskimo Art, the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, and most recently, the Red Hawk Bar & Grill, where she worked for nearly 20 years, before retiring at age 70. An avid gardener, reader, lover of jazz, exceptional cook, and long-time jogger, Nancy spent much of her retirement working in her spectacular yard, exercising, and visiting with her treasured friends, who included many former coworkers, neighbors, and extended family. During her retirement, Nancy made frequent visits to Florida to visit her daughters and her much-adored grandchildren. She also traveled to places she had always longed to see, including England, Italy, Vietnam, Belize, and Australia. She especially enjoyed getting to know her paternal relatives in England and Australia. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Christine Louise Arnison, of Cincinnati, OH. She is survived by her youngest sister Martha (Arnison) LeComb of Marquette, MI; her daughters Jennifer Possley of Miami, FL and Melissa (Possley) Taylor of Tampa, FL; her devoted close friend of 8 years Bob Laurie of Clarkston, MI; her former husband of 35 years Marc Possley and his wife Madelon; and four grandchildren by her daughter Melissa: Marc (13), Lily (11), Logan (11) and Addison (9). There will be a private memorial gathering for Nancy's close friends and families. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in Nancy's memory might be made to organizations which she has long supported: the Humane Society of Huron Valley, Bat Conservation International, Planned Parenthood, or WEMU. 2.
