OBITUARY for Robert Allan Pond; recent residence: IN. Robert Allan Pond, 66, of Evansville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 2, 1941. Bob recently retired as executive vice president from Frontier Kemper Construction after 36 years of dedicated service. He was a current member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers since 1969. He was also a member of the R-Men's Club and the National Rifleman Association. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Peggy Gallagher in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy Pond; a daughter, Karan (Patrick) Merewether of Wheatridge, Colorado; two sons, Jeff (Sandy) Pond of Denver, Colorado, and Jonathon (Jackie) Pond of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one stepson, Joe Gallagher of Evansville; and two stepdaughters, Kathleen Sexton of Evansville and Terry (John) Hilliard of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are a brother, Jeffrey Pond of Denver, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008, at Pierre Funeral Home, Deacon Thomas Goebel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St., where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
