Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Shelburne Long Term Care Home and Retirement Community in her 92nd year.
Predeceased by her Beloved husband Eldon Service (1996) her parents Edward and Adelaide Scott and her brothers Bartley and Malcom, and sisters Edna, Dorothy and Agnes and daughter-in-law Sandra (Kendrew) Service.
She leaves her children Edward (Jamie), Joyce, Robert (Dawn) and Herbert (Hilda). Grandchildren Scott, Heather, Lindsay, Greg, Pamela, Tamara, Vanesa, Kimberly, Michelle, Tricia and Mark & many great-grandchildren, her brothers Victor and Jack (Lidia) and many nieces and nephews.
Muriel was devoted to her family and faith. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy, and she loved sharing time, pictures, and stories. Muriel leaves behind special memories and an amazing example of love and faith.
Muriel was born and raised in Englehart, Northeastern Ontario and came to live in Melancthon Township in 1952 when she married her husband Eldon who was a resident of the area. They spent 44 years of married life together on the 4th line OC, Melancthon where she continued to live until July of this year when she moved to the Shelburne Long Term Care Home and Retirement Community, in the retirement home.
Friends will be received at the Jack & Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, December 15, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Shelburne Cemetery. If desired donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Shelburne Long Term Care Home and Retirement Community for the wonderful care and friendships made.

Muriel married Eldon E Service, son of Joseph Henry Service and Zella Mary McCague, circa 1952. (Eldon E Service was born on 19 Apr 1925 in Dufferin, Ontario, Canada, died on 20 Sep 1996 in Shelburne, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada and was buried in Shelburne Cemetery, Melancthon, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada.)
