Mary Sue Phillips

  General Notes:

Mary Sue Phillips Garland, age 74, of Mitchell County, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 with her loving family by her side. A native of Mitchell County, she was born February 6th, 1944 to the late Oscar and Nora Stewart Phillips. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Donald Lee, Jean, Arnold, Glen and Leonard Phillips and two sisters: Dorothy Phillips and Ruth Phillips. She was a member of Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ. Sue loved to go fishing, but above all she loved her family and her grandchildren dearly.

Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Dudley Garland; her two daughters: Janet Garland and husband, George Daniel and Penny Gardner and husband, Donald; one son, Douglas Wayne Garland and wife, Tammy; two sisters: Edna Phillips Street and Katherine Phillips; four grandsons: George Garland and fianc, Clarissa Chambers, Adam Garland and wife, Ashley, Dustin Gardner and wife, Lisa, and Dakota Garland; four granddaughters: Danielle Garland, Ashley Kerlin and husband, Stewart, Alexis Garland and Destiny Phillips; two great grandsons: Collin Gardner and Asher Garland and five great-granddaughters: Autumn Garland, Kennedy Breedin, Emma Breedin, Ava Kerlin and Hannah McCurry. Special friend, Diane 'Floss' Putman also survives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4th at Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ. Rev. G.B. Garland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
