John E. Tomlin, 89, of Vernier Drive, Cincinnati, OH, died Friday 2 March 2012 at Mercy Franciscan Terrace, Cincinnati, OH. He was born 18 February 1923 in Buchanan, KY, the son of the late James Tomlin and Florence Bell (Stewart) Tomlin. On 8 May 1948, John was united in marriage to Kathryn (Cutler) Tomlin who preceded him in death on 26 September 2000. Also preceding him in death is a son Walter Ferrell who died 3 July 2007. Surviving is daughter-in-law, Joyce Ferrell Somerville, OH, one brother, Elmer Tomlin and wife Phyllis, four sisters, Ruth Looney and husband Ernest, Fredia Ealey, Pauline Finley and Katie Reed all of Piketon, OH and many friends at Colerain Twp McDonalds in Cincinnati, OH. John retired in 1983 as a Butcher for John Morrell Co, and also worked for Stellar Property Services both of Cincinnati, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII. His parents, wife, two brothers, two sisters, 3 infant siblings preceded John in death. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, 10 March 2012 at the HOWE WHEELER BOYER HORNBACK FUNERAL HOME in Piketon, OH with Rev. Rusty Remington, Officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio with military graveside services by American Legion Merritt Post #142, Waverly, OH Friends may call at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home 5 - 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday. www.boyerfuneral.com
