HODGSON, Frances B. Frances B. Hodgson, 94,of Simsbury, passed away Thursday, (January 19,2006), at Uconn Medical Center in Farmington surrounded by the great love of her family. Born June 1, 1911 in Washington, DC, as one of six children to Henry and Addie Boynton, Fran "Nana", devoted her life to being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. All those who knew Fran loved her, and the love she gave in return was immeasurable. Raised in White Plains, NY, Fran later resided in West Hartford until moving to Simsbury where she has lived for the past 32 years. Frances Hodgson was an avid lover of the arts. From singing to dancing, acting and painting, she possessed amazingly beautiful talents. Fran was an active and productive member of the West Hartford Art League for years. Through her love of art, she was able to teach others and her remarkable work is loved and appreciated on many of the walls of her family's homes. Fran was an accomplished pianist and those who knew her loved to hear her play. With her nurturing spirit Fran loved to help things grow, children and flowers alike. She loved life and had a great appreciation for the brilliant colors, sounds and creatures that make life so amazing. Throughout her life, Fran loved reading, and getting into a good book was one of her favorite past times. Her wonderful sense of humor enabled Fran to strike up conversations with perfect strangers, just enough to make their day a little brighter. The family beach house in Niantic, was her favorite place on earth and a beautiful sunset over the water surrounded by her family was her idea of perfection. Frances is survived by her three adoring children, Thomas Hodgson and Richard Hodgson both of Charlottesville, VA, and Marguerite Brown of Simsbury. Frances also leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Erica, Robin, Robert, Anne and Alison who's hearts are with her throughout the country and five great grandchildren, Robert, Alex. Micaela, Madeline and Jake. Frances is also survived by her sister, Betty McKinney of Pleasantville, NY. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her beautiful, long life.
