Ruth Addison

On Sunday, October 15, 2023, Ruth Addison Moore, loving wife, and mother of four children, passed away at the age 80 with her family at her side in Newport, Vermont.
Ruth was born on March 7, 1943 to Mary Channel Addison and Gordon W Addison. She grew up in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1961. She went on to study nursing at The Mary Fletcher School of Nursing, graduating as a licensed registered nurse in 1965. Ruth later achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Castleton in 1985.
Ruth married her high school sweetheart Charles TJ Moore on July 6, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas. They met when she was a student at Newport high school after Charles had moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to Newport with his family.
Ruth became a registered nurse and worked through the many changes at North Country Hospital for 20 plus years. Once she achieved her bachelor's degree she decided to switch career's and got into a health teacher and school nurse position at North Country High School, where she spent the remainder of her professional career until she became disabled by multiple sclerosis and COPD.
Dance was her passion, even though she could not participate herself. She became very involved in in her granddaughter's dance program. She worked tirelessly with her girls to sew costumes and help organize practices and some of the many performances put on by the dance company.
She is survived by her husband Charles of 60 years, and children Michael, Colleen, Shannon, and Ian. Ruth cherished her grandchildren and is survived by Joseph, Kira, Micaela, Lourdes, Wesley Gabriel, Kaylee, Emily, Addison, & Charlie. Ruth is also predeceased by both of her parents.
