STEPHEN PETER BIRD
Stephen Peter Bird, 68, passed away on June 7, 2012 at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida after a long illness. Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on December 27, 1943, Stephen was the son of the late Norris and Mary Ann Bird.
Stephen, a retired businessman, served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. After his service, he returned home to Wisconsin where he married his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Marie (Schrank). He owned and operated several businesses throughout the years before semi-retiring in Tallahassee to be closer to his grandchildren. Two of his greatest passions include his family and Chicago Cubs baseball.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, his son Gregory Paul and partner Renee Duenne, his daughter Andrea (Bird) Simpson along with her husband William, and two grandsons, Stephen David and William Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth and two nephews, Matthew and Adam.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2102, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel. There will be a reception to follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Big Bend Hospice Foundation (1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahasse,, FL 32308) or the Hospice of your choice.
