Robert John Bailey
On Wednesday morning, April 27th, 1955, at the Elms Rest Home, Shelburne, Robert John Bailey passed away after a long illness. He had been in poor health since suffering injuries in an automobile accident, January 5, 1945.

Mr. Bailey was born at Whitfield, on December 10,1877, son of John Bailey and Sarah Lockhart. He was married to Mary Jane Little, March 16, 1910.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Ralph, Ottawa and Cecil, Salt Lake City; one brother William, Moose Jaw, Sask. as sister, Margaret (Mr. R.G. Adamson, Eyebrow Sask. and by seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sister- Sarah E. Mr. W. Silk; Mary E. and Katherine (Mrs. E. Thompson).

Before his marriage Mr. Bailey taught school in Ontario and Saskatchewan. After his marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bailey took up farming at Eyebrow, Sask, and were there for 38 years. After retirement they lived with a nephew, George Little, at Mrs. Bailey's home. They attended St. James Anglican Church. Primrose. The funeral service was held at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne. Interment was in in Shelburne Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Messrs. Dermott Bailey, Mel. Bailey, Rob Lockhart, Stanley Thompson, Chester Mandley and George Little. Many friends and relative attended were former pupils and were present for the funeral.

He tried pharmacy, but then became a teacher who loved poetry, especially Tennyson, and used Latin in conversation. He settled into farming after marriage. Trustee for Winfield Public School District; Senior Warden for St. Anne's Anglican Church.
