Orangeville Banner, Thursday, June 30, 1955 - Front Page - BETTY DERMOTT MARRIED TO BOB RICHEY LAST SATURDAY: A summer wedding of wide interest took place in Westminster United Church, on Saturday, June 25th, when Joyce Elizabeth Dermott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Dermott, Orangeville, became the bride of Robert James Richey, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Richey, Orangeville. Rev. M. C. MacKinnon, of Toronto, officiated, assisted by Rev. R. Arkwright. Yellow mums and colourful summer flowers were an effective background for the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the attractive bride wore a regal gown of white satin crystalette, fashioned with decollete neckline outlined in seed pearls and sequins and full graceful skirt. A finger-tip veil of French illusion fell from the matching coronet and she carried a cascade of red roses.

The matron of honour, Mrs. Walter Bereznick, wore a ballerina length frock of blue crystalette over taffeta with matching hat. Her flowers were yellow roses.

The bridesmaids, Mrs. Norman Arkwell and Miss Diane Richey, the groom's sister, were attired similarly to the matron of honour. They carried yellow roses too.

Mr. Harvey Stanfield, of Toronto, was groomsman and the ushers were Mr. Alvin Dermott and Mr. Maurice Horner, of Shelburne.

The soloist was Mrs. Harvey Curry who sang, "The Good Shepherd", previous to the ceremony, and "Because I do not Walk Alone", during the signing of the register. The wedding music was played by the church organist, Mr. Lindsey Jelly.

The bride's mother wore blue sheer and lace over taffeta, with matching hat, at the reception which followed in the church parlour. The groom's mother assisted in rosewood silk crepe with which she wore a flowered hat.

For their wedding trip to the Eastern Provinces, the bride wore a navy, two-piece original, navy hat touched with white, navy and white accessories. Pinned to her bag was a corsage of red roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Richey will make their home at St. Stephen's Court, The Kingsway, Toronto.
