CARSON, Mrs. Ruth Shirley (nee Browne) Peacefully in Ottawa at West End Villa Nursing Home on Saturday, December 21st, 2002. Beloved wife of the late H. Tom Carson and loving mother of the late Jon Carson and the late Erica (Joynt). Survived by grandsons Darren and Stephen Joynt and Anders and Sven Carson. Special great-grandmother to Ashlee, Emilia and Daniel. Sister-in-law of Marion Browne. Predeceased by her brother Eric Igelstrom Browne and daughter-in-law Lise-Lotte Carson. Predeceased by her father Ernest George Browne and her mother Mabel Browne (nee Igelstrom). Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley, a McGill graduate dietician was an Honourary Life Member of the IODE, Council of Women, Home Economics Association and The Perley Hospital Volunteers with which she volunteered tirelessly for most of her life. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod on Saturday, December 28th, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
Ruth married Hugh Thomas Carson, son of William James Carson and Edith Maud Ripley. (Hugh Thomas Carson was born on 18 May 1907 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, died on 6 Aug 1979 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and was buried on 8 Aug 1979 in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.)
