Gerald ARMSTRONG Obituary
ARMSTRONG, Gerald William B. Arch.
Peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016 Gerry (Fred) passed away in his sleep at his residence, Arthur Meighen Manor. Adored husband for 60 years of Mary Elizabeth Twible; loving father of Susan (Chris Baptiste), Robert (Anne), and Carol (the late Peter Traynor, Bengt von Schwerin); cherished grandfather of Madeleine and Harrison, Emily and Katie. He leaves behind his sister, Eleanor Robertson.
Born in 1930 in Brockville, Ontario and lived in Toronto; Gerry was a glowing example of steadfast devotion to his family, friends, his business and the ongoing building efforts on Georgian Bay and Ellicottville, N.Y. where he pursued his lifetime passion of skiing.
Gerry graduated from the School of Architecture at McGill University where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity After defining himself as a successful architect in Toronto, he went on to establish the firm Boigon & Armstrong where they focused on design in various sectors: education, healthcare and industrial in Ontario and the Northwest Territories, ultimately retiring as Director of Capital Construction for Sunnybrook Hospital.
His other passions included music, design/build, fishing, model airplanes, skiing, playing the trumpet and yes, baking butter tarts.
A funeral service will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Ave. West, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to 'Out of the Cold' at Metropolitan United Church, Arthur Meighen Manor or a charity of your choice would be most appreciated.
