bullet  Marriage Notes:

Hurontarian, Wednesday, June 24, 1981 - Page 2 - FAMILY BIBLE CARRIED AT WEDDING: A very pretty wedding took place when Ruby Lois Marie Taylor was united in marriage with Leon Allen Aikens on Saturday, May 9th, 1981, in Westminster United Church, Orangeville, with Reverend Scrivens officiating.

The bride entered the church arm-in-arm with her father, Donald Taylor.

The bride looked radiant in a long white gown with a long flowing train of lace, dotted with pearls and rhinestones. The bodice was lace over chiffon, and the front panels were in tiny accordion pleats. Her sleeves were of sheer with lace wristbands. The bride carried a cascade of pink and blue roses with miniature white daisies and baby breath; she also carried a white Bible that was handed down and carried for several generations.

Miss Ruth Taylor, her sister, was her Matron of Honor. She was gowned in a pink polyester knit, with a sheer cap jacket and a flowing side panel in floral. She carried a cascade of spring flowers, the same as the bride.

Mrs. Charline Denreyer and Mrs. Barbara McConnell, friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were the same as the Matron of Honor, only in a robin egg blue; they also carried cascades of spring flowers.

Junior bridesmaid, Miss Tracy Bryan, niece of the groom, was in a robin's egg blue gown with floral puffed sleeves. She carried a nosegay of spring flowers.

Flowergirl, Miss Tammy McConnell, little friend of the bride, was gowned in robin's egg blue with floral puffed sleeves. She carried a basket of spring flowers.

The groom was attired in a pale blue tuxedo with blue trim, white frilled shirt and blue bow tie.

Mr. Barry Aikens was best man for his brother. Mr. Jim Trimble, friend of the groom, and Mr. John Taylor, brother of the bride, were ushers, with Mr. Glen Taylor, brother of the bride, as junior usher. They were all attired in royal blue tuxedos, white shirts with frilled blue trim and bow ties. They all wore white carnations tinted in blue.

Mrs. Bertha Taylor, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Florence Aikens, grandmother of the groom, attended. Grandfather Taylor of North Bay Hospital was unable to attend.

The bride's mother, Mrs. Ruby Taylor, received the guests wearing a gown of mauve polyester crimp with, long sleeves and a skirt of accordian pleats. She wore a corsage of purple lilies, roses and white miniature daisies.

Mr. Earl Taylor, brother of the bride, was master of ceremonies at the supper.

The reception and dance was held in the Orangeville Sports Complex, with Sound Conspiracy as music.

The bride's going-away outfit was a two-piece suit in teal blue, soft Suede and white blouse, and navy accessories. She wore a corsage of yellow roses. The groom wore a navy three-piece suite with white pinstripes, white shirt and red tie.

The young couple left amid showers of confetti and best wishes. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls and local places.

They are now living at 44 Third Street, Orangeville.

Mrs. Nancy Taylor, sister-in-law of the bride, was the photographer.
