General Notes:
Col. Selwyn J. Barefoot has been named as director of Procurement and Production for the Ogden Air Material Area, it was announced today by Maj. Gen. T. Alan Bennett, Ogden AMA commander.
The new director replaces Col. Robert W. Cochran who has been transferred to the Sacramento (Calif.) Air Material Area.
Native of Flint, Mich., Colonel Barefoot previously was chief of missiles and airmunitions division of the Procurement and Production Directorate here.
The colonel has 26 years of military service, including eight overseas years in Europe, Alaska, South America and the Far East.
He entered the service from Flint, Mich., in 1940 and graduated from pilot training at Kelly AFB, Tex., in July 1941. He is now rated a command pilot and has more than 4,000 hours of air time.
During World War II, he flew B-17 bombers on submarine patrol in the Caribbean and later was reassigned to Alaska. There he flew a variety of aircraft and was director of operations at an air base in Nome.
Colonel Barefoot has a bachelors degree in industrial engineering from General Motors Institute in Flint in 1938 and in 1959 received his Masters' degree in business administration from Indiana University.
Colonel Barefoot resides on base with his wife.
