SUTER, Stanley R. - April 14, 1926 - September 3, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Stanley R. Suter of Barry's Bay, husband to Margaret E Suter. Stan passed away peacefully September 3, in his 87th year, at the Valley Manor Nursing Home. Stan was born to the late Ethyl and Henry Suter, April 14, 1926 in Lambton Mills, Ontario. He was the third oldest of l 0 children; Harry (deceased), Betty (deceased) Joyce, Bob, Gladys, Bill, Doug, Barbara and Jim. He graduated from U. of Toronto with a BSc in Forestry in 1951 and later, a Masters in Education from U. of Ottawa. Stan joined the Navy 1943 and then worked for the Ministry of Lands and Forests as a Forester before becoming a high school Teacher and Vice Principle. Coaching volleyball was Stan's passion at Fellowes (Pembroke) and Madawaska Valley (Barry's Bay) high schools. Stan married Margaret E. McKean in Thornhill, September 1, 1948. They lived in Toronto, Kapuskasing, Almonte, Huntsville, and Pembroke before retiring to Barry's Bay. Stan was very proud of his five children; Ann Hoffman (Ben), Carol (Pierre Millette), Nancy O'Brien (Tim), Karen Tierney (Jim), and Paul (Christine). Time with family and friends was important to Stan. He loved taking their 9 grandchildren (Evan, Warren, Bridget, Shauna, Dylan, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Geoffrey, Sean) and, 2 great grandchildren (Kiya, Vance) fishing. Stan enjoyed meeting people through his craft work (Bittersweet Handcrafts), his gardening and his traveling and Stan loved playing golf. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Valley Manor Nursing Home, 88 Mintha St., Barry's Bay, ON, KOJ 1 BO A Memorial Celebration will be held Sunday September 23rd 2012 at the Barry's Bay Senior Center between 13: 00-15: 00.
