Joseph HAMMOND Obituary
HAMMOND Joseph Charles - born on December 11, 1917 in Revelstoke, BC, Joe passed away peacefully in the warm and loving embrace of his family on Monday morning, October 27, 2003 in Victoria, BC. After attending post secondary training at Vancouver Technical School and Aviation Ground School, Joe was well prepared to serve as a flight sergeant and aircraft inspector in the RCAF from 1940 to 1945. After the war, he worked with the BC Civil Service, until his retirement in 1982. His wit, generosity and encompassing love will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves his wife Phyllis (Tinline); children, Betty (Don), Carolyn (Ken), Joe (Dianne), Patti and Gail; grandchildren, Jana, Megan, Caitlin, Micah and Keely; sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Les; nephew, Jack in Parksville; and niece, Jill, her husband, Larry and family in Nanaimo. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen. A friendly soul, Joe understood the meaning of community and was a source of humour, positivity and encouragement to everyone he met on his daily walks during his 30 year as a Fairfield resident. Joe will also be missed by his long-time friends at the recently closed Cubbon Adult Care Centre, and his new friends at Oak Bay Lodge day program. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Oak Bay Lodge Adult Care Centre.

Joseph married Margaret Phyllis Tinline, daughter of Milton John Tinline and Mary Mabel Evans. (Margaret Phyllis Tinline was born on 29 Dec 1916 in Scott, Saskatchewan, Canada and died on 23 Dec 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.)
