bullet  General Notes:

Shelburne Free Press & Economist - January 8, 1958 - PHILLIPS-HORNER:
A quiet wedding was solemnized on November 16th, 1957, in St. James Church, Primrose, when Shirley Erna Laurena, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Horner, was wed to Donald Edward Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Phillips, of Cooksville. Rev. J. M. Dobson, of Shelburne, heard the marriage vows of the double-ring ceremony.

The bride looked lovely in a gown of blue lace, trimmed with satin ribbon. She wore a veil of shoulder-length, held by a halo of organdy and rhinestones and carried a bridal bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

The bride's sister, Dora June Horner, was bridesmaid. She was dressed in blue net trimmed with gold sequins, and carried a bouquet of pink and red roses.

The best man was Mr. Harold Hertendy, of Cooksville, and ushers were Mr. Edwin Horner, brother of the bride, and Mr. Stanley Budd, of Toronto, friend of the groom.

Mrs. Norman Lindsay, organist of the church, presided at the organ.

The ladies of the Women's Guild served a delightful buffet luncheon.

Among the guests were the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Little, of Orangeville, and the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Hunter, of Toronto.

Later in the evening the bride and groom left for points south.
