SERVICE: The death of Mrs. James Service, formerly Sarah Dermott, occurred at the home of her son, Mr. Harry Service, of Shelburne. Although failing in health for some time, she became in critical condition the last week and passed away on Thursday, July 11th, 1957.
Left to mourn her loss are two sons: William, Bellwood; Harry, Shelburne, and Earl, of Mount Forest; also ten grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph, of Orangeville and Samuel, of Camilla. Two sisters also survive: Mrs. G. Maharg and Mrs. James Rinn, Shelburne.
The funeral service was held on July 13th, at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, and was conducted by William Martin, assisted at the grave by Wilson Thompson. It was largely attended.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Ivan Kidd, Eric Emerson, Murray McClelland, Milford Maharg, Geoffrey Spindler and Glynn Seaborne.
The pianist for the service was Mrs. William Leader and Messrs. Frank Shaw and Samuel Pritchard sang "Knowing that My Life Shall Be Ever Hid with Christ in Thee."
Friends from a distance were from Hanover, Stayner, Beeton, Toronto, Brampton, Georgetown and Guelph.
