Shelburne Free Press & Economist, Wednesday, September 3, 1980 - Page 1 - OBUITUARIES - NORMAN LINDSAY: On Tuesday, August 12, 1980, Norman C. Lindsay passed away peacefully at Austin's Nursing Home, Shelburne where he had spent the last few weeks after many months in Shelburne District Hospital. He was the youngest son of Joseph Lindsay and Letitia Riddell of Mono Township.

He was born April 12, 1899, on Lot 30, 1st line East, Mono where, he farmed with his brother, Perry. He married Viola Dermott in June 1942, and they farmed in Mono till 1963 when they retired and moved to 1st. Ave., Shelburne.

The deceased was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Primrose, an active member of Primrose L.O.L. No. 1277, Shelburne R.B.P. No. 833; on the board of Dufferin Fire Insurance for 35 years and was Warden of Dufferin County in 1932.

Predeceased by his wife, Viola; also three brothers, Bob, Gordon, Perry and one sister Harriet, Mrs. Albert Little.

The funeral service was conducted on Friday, August 15 at the Gamble Funeral Home by Rev. Larry Phillips of Shelburne. The pallbearers were nephews, Maurice and Beverly Little and Wayne Breedon, cousin Fletcher Riddell and neighbours David Barr and Fred Wells.

Shelburne Free Press & Economist, June 25, 1942 - LINDSAY-DERMOTT: St. Paul's Anglican Church, Shelburne was the scene of a quiet but pretty wedding on Tuesday, June 16, 1942, at 3.30 p.m., when Rev. J. H. Pogson united in matrimony Viola Bernice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Dermott, and Mr. Norman C. Lindsay, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Lindsay. The bride wore a street length gown of dusty rose sheer with corsage of sweat peas and carried a white prayer book. Miss Kathleen Wilson was bridesmaid dressed in rose sheer trimmed with white and white accessories. She carried a bouquet of sweat peas. Mr. Harry Dermott, brother of the bride, was groomsman. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the immediate families, after which the bride and groom left on a motor trip north, the bride traveling in a blue figured crepe dress with white accessories. On their return they will reside on the First Line of Mono.
