HILL, J. Elwood - (Rock Hill Park, Spring Water Lakes and EI's Surplus Store)
On Saturday, February 11, 1995 at the Shelburne Residence and Retirement Home, in his 78th year, after a lengthy and debilitating ordeal with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. Life long partner of his devoted wife M. Jean Little (1921-1993). The motivating influence behind his pride and joy, his five daughters; Sharon Middlehurst and Dennis, Mavis Wilson (former MPP and Cabinet Minister) and Bruce, Bonnie MacDermott and Graham, Marilyn Hill and Bud Adams and Mary Jean Laursen and Rob. Pops to Christopher Rusk and Lauri Bradley, Laurie Williams, Vanessa, Taylor, and Hunter Wilson, Angus and Caitlin MacDermott, Kayla and Justin Laursen and the late Adam Wilson. Dear great grandfather of Joshua and Zachary Rusk. Son of the late Rice Hill and the late Susanna Dean, of proud Irish roots. Brother of clement of Bright's Grove and predeceased by brothers Ernest and Lester and sister Rena (Olsen). Known for his love of life, Elwood was instrumental in beginning the careers of many Canadian country music artists. The family received friends at the Doney Funeral Home, Shelburne on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Charles McMulkin. Spring Interment to take place at the Hornings Mills Cemetery. Donations may be made to either the Elwood Hill Equipment Fund for Shelburne Residence and Retirement Home or the Dufferin County Museum and Archives.
