Larry Jacob Shaw

Shaw, Larry Jacob of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, May 10th, 2021, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, at the age of 80. Dearly loved husband of Elaine (Hardy) Shaw and loved father of Harry Shaw (Sheri), Nancy Shaw, Melanie Lidster (Rob) and Mary Jo White (Lu). Cherished grandfather of Kelly and Jackie Putnam, Ashley, Alexis and Jordan Shaw, Sidney and Sarah White and Austin and Madison Lidster. Dear brother of Marie Turvey (late Bill), the late Dennie Shaw (Lorna), the late George Shaw (B.J.) and the late Morris Shaw (late Joan). Sadly missed by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was born in St. Thomas on December 7th, 1940, the son of the late Carl and Marie Frances (Dennie) Shaw. Larry enjoyed farming. He was a life member of St. David's Lodge #302 A.F. and A.M., Mocha Temple Shrine and former member of the Directors Staff (Past President 1991-92), a member of the R.O.J. And former Director 2005, a Councillor for Yarmouth Township for 16 years, Reeve for 3 years, Warden of Elgin in 1982, Co-ordinator of Elgin County Plowing Match (International Plowing Match in 1985). Larry also enjoyed woodworking and golfing.

Due to Covid 19 a private family service will be held and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation with entombment of ashes in the Niche at Union Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.
