Shelburne Free Press & Economist, September 20, 1961 - ANDREW McCAGUE:
On Saturday, July 22nd, there peacefully passed away in Alliston Hospital, a highly respected citizen of Beeton, in the person of Robert Andrew McCague.

Deceased was in his 75th year and had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. McCague was the 2nd eldest of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. William McCague, pioneer residents of Relessey Community, Mono Township, and later retired to Beeton.

In 1916 he married Harriet Ann Gallaugher, who predeceased him in March 1958.

They settled on a farm in West Gwillimbury township not far from Bradford, where they raised a family of five. In 1939 they moved from the farm to Beeton, where Mr. McCague was held in much respect by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband and father.

He leaves to mourn his loss two sons and three daughters: Grenville and Angus McCague; Pauline (Mrs. F. Stewart); Ruth (Mrs. L. Catania), all of Beeton, and Bernice (Mrs. E. Fleming), of Toronto, and 14 grandchildren.

He also is survived by six sisters: Mrs. George Newton, Mrs. Art Kirkpatrick, Mrs. J. A. Fines, Mrs. Harry Service and Mrs. Edwin Whitten, all of Shelburne, and Mrs. Roy McRitchie, of Hanover.

He was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. W. J. Fleming, Toronto, and a brother, Herbert McCague, of Brampton.

The funeral service held from the Thomas Funeral Chapel, Alliston, was conducted by Mr. William Martin and assisted by Mr. MacLoed, at the graveside, with a large attendance of relatives, friends and neighbors.

A duet of two of Mr.McCague's favorite hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Shall We gather at the River," was sung by Miss Georgina Barton and Mrs. Laura Nichol, of Beeton.

The pallbearers were four brothers-in-law and two nephews, Art Kirkpatrick, Harry Service, William Banks, Bonnar Gallaugher, Jack LeQuelence and Esmil Lonsway.

Flower bearers were Maurice Newton, Harold Rutledge, Ross Avison, Donald Warwick, all nephew's of Mr. McCague, also two cousins, Elwood and Kirwood McCague.

Interment was at Beeton United Church Cemetery.
