Shelburne Free Press & Economist, February 14, 1962 - MRS. ANNIE NEWTON:
On January 28th, 1962, the death of Annie L. McCague, widow of the late William George Newton, took place in Shelburne District Hospital after many months of illness. She was in her 75th year

The deceased was born in Mono Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William McCague. On October 1st, 1913, she married William George Newton and moved to lot 30, concession 4, Mono Township, where she resided until 1942, when she and her husband retired to Fourth Avenue, Shelburne.

She leaves to mourn her loss a son, Maurice, still residing at the Newton homestead at Violet Hill, and a foster son, Donald Warwick, of Nobleton, and four grandchildren: Barbara Newton, Karen, Carl and Craig Warwick; and four sisters; Mrs. Art Kirkpatrick (Ettie), Mrs. J. A. Fines (Violet), Mrs. Harry Service (Zella), of Shelburne, and Mrs. Roy McRichie (Velma) of Hanover

A sister and two brothers predeceased her: Mrs. Willie Fleming (Phoebe), Toronto; Andy, Beeton; and Herb, Brampton. Another sister, Mrs. Edwin Whitten (Reta), Shelburne, passed to her rest February 6th, 1962, nine days later.

The funeral was held from the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Tuesday, January 30th, with entombment in Shelburne Mortuary. The service was conducted by Mr. Carson Cowan, assisted at the grave by Mr. Vernon Haddlesey.

The pallbearers were six nephews, Angus McCague, Keith Kirkpatrick, Austin Whitten, Eric Kirkpatrick, Eldon Service and Harold Rutledge. The flower bearers were Jimmy Service and Ross Avison.
