JAMES CARTMEL
1931 - 2012

James R. "Hap" Cartmel, 81, of Durbin Road, Catlettsburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, with his family gathered around him.

He was born July 17, 1931, in Buchanan to the late Greenville and Mary Elizabeth Cartmel.

Hap was retired from Laborers Local 1445. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Bear Creek and Cyrus Chapel United Methodist churches.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Moore Cartmel, his children, Paul Raymond (Kim) Cartmel and Debbie (Mike Sr.) Harris, his grandsons, Paul Alex Cartmel, Jesse (Mandy) Cartmel, Jeff (Kathy) Akers and Mike Jr. (Brandy) Harris, a granddaughter, Bobbie Lynn (Chad) Stapleton, and great-grandchildren, Alex Cain, Gwynnan, Arissa, Dylan, Laken and Taylor.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Cyrus Chapel on Durbin Road. Pastor Mac Ferrel will officiate and Pastor Noah Wilkes will assist. He will be laid to rest in Hap's Memorial Garden.

Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg and after noon Wednesday at the church.

He is absent from our presence but present with his Lord.

James married Charlotte Ruby Moore on 21 Apr 1979 in Clintwood, Dickenson, Virginia, United States of America. (Charlotte Ruby Moore was born on 3 Apr 1938 in Jasper, Scioto, Ohio, United States of America, died on 16 Mar 2020 in Catlettsburg, Boyd, Kentucky, United States of America and was buried in Hap's Memorial Gardens, Durbin, Boyd, Kentucky, United States of America.)
