Shelburne Free Press - February 28, 1924 - ELGIE-BUCHANAN:
A quiet wedding was solemnized on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 20th, a St. Paul's Rectory, Shelburne, when Miss Violet Buchanan, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buchanan of Mono township, became the bride of Herbert Elgie, son of John Elgie of the same township. The Rev. W. H. Hartley officiated in the presence of a few relatives of the contracting parties. The bride was charmingly gowned in pale grey satin and wore a string of pearls, the gift of the groom. The young couple are members of St. James' church, Primrose, the bride being one of the members of the choir. They will reside on the groom's farm on Hurontario Street.

ELGIE, Violet: At Shelburne District Hospital on December 3, 1982 in her 85th year, Violet Buchanan, wife of the late Herbert Elgie and dear mother of Wallace and Allan; dear sister of Bertha (Mrs. Frank Turner) and George and predeceased by Hazel; also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at The Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne on December 6th. Interment Shelburne Cemetery.
