  General Notes:

MRS. ELVA BUCHANAN: Elva is another of our Western Gals. She was born in Mossbank, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Milton and Rose Lindsay. Later her parents moved to Toronto. She received her education in Toronto, and later in the Shelburne area.

She married George Buchanan in 1936. Five children were born of this marriage, two girls, Pat and Norma are married, Douglas, Alan and Lynne at home. Elva, George and the three children live on 20 Side Road.

They are members of Primrose United Church.

Elva was several years in the employ of Eatons and Simpsons, later joining the Nursing Staff at Dufferin Oaks. Elva is a likeable and very pleasant person to work with.

Suddenly in Orangeville on Wednesday, March 31, 1999. Loving wife of George for 62 years and dear mother of Patricia Rennick (deceased), Norma Horner of Shelburne, Douglas of Mono Mills, Alan of Caledon and Lynne Glazin of Vancouver. Survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Elva was the only daughter of the late Milton and Rose Lindsay. The family will receive friends at the Doney funeral Home, 318 Main street East, Shelburne on Friday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service in the Funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 3, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. Spring interment in the Shelburne Cemetery.

Elva married George Fredrick Buchanan, son of William Fredrick Buchanan and Elizabeth Ann Little, on 21 Oct 1936 in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Shelburne, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada. (George Fredrick Buchanan was born on 17 Aug 1913 in Mono, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada, died on 11 Dec 2003 in Shelburne, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada and was buried in Shelburne Cemetery, Melancthon, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada.)
