BUCHANAN Family & friends were saddened to hear of the sudden passing of George Fredrick Buchanan at Dufferin Oaks on December 11, 2003. George was born August 17, 1913. The youngest child & only son of Fredrick Buchanan & Elizabeth Little. George was born & spent all his life in Dufferin County, farming the family farm & later living in both Shelburne & Orangeville. A born entertainer, George sang at house parties & concerts accompanied by his sister Bertha. As an adult he played banjo with the Alvin Dermott orchestra playing for community parties, showers and barn dances. In 1925 he met Elva Lindsay and they were married in 1936. George & Elva raised five children. Patricia Rennick (deceased) Norma Horner, Douglas & his wife Linda, Alan this wife Barbara and Lynne and her husband Bob Glazin. Survived by seven grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by his wife Elva and daughter Patricia, sisters Hazel Buchanan, Violet Elgie & Bertha Turner. Pallbearers were sons-in-law Bob Glazin, grandsons Phil Horner, Scott & Dean Buchanan, grandson-in-law Garry Shortt and friend Murray Halbert. A kind and devoted husband, father & grandfather & a loyal friend to many. Dad we miss you.

Buchanan, George Peacefully at Dufferin Oaks On Thursday December 11,2003 in his 91st year. Loving husband of the late Elva Lindsay. Beloved father of Patricia Rennick (deceased), Norma Horner of Shelburne, Douglas of Mono Mills, Alan of Caledon and Lynne Glazin of Vancouver. Devoted grandfather of 7 seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at the Doney Funeral Home, Shelburne, on Friday, December 12,2003. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 13th 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Private interment service followed. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
